This piece was a long time in the making. It first started off as a bound Angel that I came up with, afterwards I came up with a background to complete the piece. Bound to Gaia refers to the idea that this Angel is bound to Gaia (another name for the spirit of the Earth) she can not return to the heavens and is bound to this form.

Medium: Mixed Medium. Started as a pencil sketch. Angel, wings and vines were colored with Prisma Markers and touched up with colored pencils. The stone bricks, clouds, stone altar and the metal frame in the window were painted with water colors that were touched up with colored pencils. Wings highlights come from white pastel dusting.
